Highlights

  • Southernmost Colorado state park at 6,085 ft — the lowest elevation and mildest winter temps of any CO park on this list; excellent early/late season destination
  • Full hookups at Rosa Campground; 15,000-acre reservoir spanning the Colorado–New Mexico border
  • Natural pairing with Aztec Ruins NM (50 mi) or Farmington area for a SW Colorado / NW NM circuit

Planning Notes

Three campgrounds: Rosa (full hookups, showers), Carracas (electric, showers), Tiffany (basic). Paved access via CO-151 from US-160. Arboles is tiny — Durango (42 mi north) for fuel and full resupply. From Austin: ~12 hrs via Albuquerque → Farmington → US-64 W → CO-151.
