Highlights

  • Certified International Dark Sky Park — among the darkest night skies in the United States; Milky Way visible to the naked eye year-round
  • Loop road to three natural bridges (Sipapu, Kachina, Owachomo) starts at camp — hike or drive the 9-mile one-way rim road without breaking camp
  • Primitive price for an NPS site: $15 iron-ranger fee versus $25–35 at Utah's major parks, with a fraction of the crowds

Planning Notes

13 primitive sites in a short loop — max 26 ft. First-come only; fills slowly except holiday weekends. Vault toilets; no water or hookups — fill tanks in Blanding (40 mi north). Access via paved UT-275 off UT-95 (Bicentennial Highway). Combine with Bears Ears, Canyonlands Needles, and Valley of the Gods in one corridor swing. From Austin: ~14.5 hrs via US-285 N to US-491 N to UT-95 W.
