Highlights

▶ 800-ft Canadian River canyon cut through red sandstone — visually unlike any other NM campground; fills the NE plains gap entirely
▶ 6 rim sites accessible to trailers (do not descend to canyon floor with a trailer); 12 lower sites for tents
▶ Excellent birding — golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, wild turkeys; Santa Fe Trail passes nearby

Planning Notes

Rim sites only for trailers — 30 ft practical limit due to sharp turns. Canyon-floor descent is not recommended with any trailer. No water at campground; 14-day stay limit. Road deteriorates after rain. The only notable public camping in NE NM between Sugarite Canyon SP and the Texas/Oklahoma border.
