Highlights
- ▶ Free dispersed at the trailhead for Little Wild Horse Canyon — the best non-technical slot canyon hike in Utah (Bell-LWH loop, 7 miles, no permit) starting from your campsite
- ▶ 50+ established dispersed sites in the draw; far lower competition than Goblin Valley SP 8 miles north, with no overnight fee
- ▶ San Rafael Swell's slot canyon labyrinth surrounds you — free camping, no park entry, and the slots are just as dramatic as anything in Zion
Planning Notes
Trailers to ~27 ft reported on the main dirt access road; sandy sections can trap 2WD vehicles — approach cautiously and park at a firm spot. 50+ dispersed sites with established fire rings. No water, no toilets. Hanksville (30 mi east on UT-24) has fuel. Combine with Goblin Valley SP (8 mi north) and Wedge Overlook (35 mi north). From Austin: ~14.2 hrs via US-191 to UT-24 W to Temple Mountain Road.
