Highlights

  • Free BLM dispersed 3 miles from downtown Moab — the nearest zero-cost alternative to $25–35/nt in-park camping with the same day-trip radius
  • Paved Kane Creek Road gives canyon-wall sites in the first 5 miles; slickrock, creek, and red Entrada sandstone versus the open desert of the paid parks
  • Arches NP (8 mi), Canyonlands Needles (35 mi), and Dead Horse Point (22 mi) all day-trip distance without moving camp

Planning Notes

⚠️ Paved for the first 5 miles — suitable for trailers to ~30 ft on the paved stretch; road transitions to 4WD-only rocky 2-track beyond — do not continue past the pavement end with a trailer. Established fire rings at pull-outs on the paved section. Flash flood risk in canyon; check weather. No water, no toilets on dispersed section. Moab (3 mi) has full resupply. From Austin: ~14.8 hrs.
