Highlights
- ▶ The ponderosa pine forest directly surrounding Grand Canyon's South Rim — stay here for free on the same nights you day-trip the canyon, 60 miles north on AZ-64
- ▶ FR 74 (Perkinsville Road) and FR 108 (Hull Cabin Road) are the widest and most trailer-friendly dispersed corridors, both accessible from Williams in 2WD
- ▶ Williams itself has full services (fuel, grocery, restaurants, Kaibab NF visitor center) and Route 66 historic downtown; elevation 6,700 ft
Planning Notes
Download Kaibab NF South Kaibab Ranger District MVUM before departure. FR 74 leaves Williams heading north — first 10 miles are graded and suitable for 35-ft trailers. FR 108 branches east near Hull Tank. Fire restrictions common July–August — check AZ fire restriction map. From Austin: ~13.5 hrs via I-10 W to Phoenix then I-17 N then I-40 W to Williams.
