Highlights
- ▶ Newspaper Rock — 2,000 years of continuous Native American petroglyph art on a single cliff face, 5 miles up UT-211 from camp — free walk-up, no permit
- ▶ On the paved approach corridor to Canyonlands Needles; camp here at BLM rates and day-trip into the park rather than paying $20/nt inside
- ▶ Indian Creek canyon walls are world-class trad crack climbing — even if you're not climbing, the camp setting inside the canyon is spectacular
Planning Notes
32 sites on paved UT-211, same highway as the Canyonlands Needles entrance (5 mi further). Vault toilets, fire rings; no water — fill in Monticello (30 mi) or Moab (35 mi). Fills on spring/fall climbing weekends — arrive Thursday. From Austin: ~14.3 hrs via US-285 N to US-491 N to UT-211 W.
