Highlights

  • Camp at the base of the deepest river gorge in North America (deeper than the Grand Canyon); Snake River runs directly alongside camp
  • Jet boat tours launching from the park into the roadless wilderness section of the canyon — best day-trip option on this list
  • Hookup sites with shade trees and lawn — surprisingly comfortable amenities for such a remote canyon location

Planning Notes

⚠️ APPROACH: Hwy 86 from Baker City, OR → Oxbow → Copperfield Park (all paved). Do NOT approach from Riggins, ID via Forest Road 517 — steep narrow switchbacks, NOT for trailers. Summer in the 1,700-ft canyon is brutally hot (105°F+). Road condition hotline: (541) 785-7251.
