Highlights

  • Camp 1,400 ft above an emerald-green reservoir — Red Canyon Overlook is a 5-minute walk from your site; among the most photogenic overlooks in Utah
  • Rainbow trout fishing in Flaming Gorge is world-class; the reservoir holds NRA record brown trout (33+ lbs); rent a boat at Dutch John marina 8 miles away
  • Pine and aspen forest at 7,400 ft — the complete character opposite of red rock Utah; cool summer air when canyon country is sweltering

Planning Notes

Paved Red Canyon Road access from UT-44. No hookups. Red Canyon Lodge (restaurant, cabin rentals) nearby. Daytime visitor center crowds — arrive by early afternoon to secure a site. Dutch John (8 mi) has fuel and marina. From Austin: ~17 hrs via I-20 W to I-25 N to US-40 W to US-191 N.
