Highlights

  • Camp beside the Green River inside one of the most undervisited NPS units in the West — no timed entry, no crowding, none of the booking-war intensity of Arches or Zion
  • Quarry Exhibit Hall (actual Jurassic dinosaur fossils embedded in the cliff face, accessible via building walk-through) is 10 minutes from camp — the most accessible in-situ fossil site in North America
  • Yampa and Green River whitewater runs launch nearby; guided trips available for multi-day floats through the most scenic canyon river corridor between here and the Grand Canyon

Planning Notes

96 sites on paved access road. No hookups. Split Mountain CG (NPS, 4 mi) is an alternative. Vernal, UT (20 mi) provides full resupply. From Austin: ~17 hrs via I-20 W to I-25 N to US-40 W to Jensen.
