Highlights

  • Lower Calf Creek Falls trailhead (5.8 mi RT to a 126-ft waterfall) starts at your campsite — the best single day hike in Grand Staircase-Escalante, shaded by cottonwoods the whole way
  • On UT-12 Scenic Byway — you're already on one of the most spectacular drives in North America; park and walk rather than rushing through
  • Drinking water and restrooms on-site — a rare combination for a BLM site this deep in canyon country

Planning Notes

13 primitive sites; 25-ft max RV. Paved UT-12 access, 15 miles east of Escalante. Drinking water and restrooms on-site. Arrive Thursday for peak-season weekends; fills fast. Upper Calf Creek Falls (trailhead 3 mi east, free day-use) is shorter and less crowded. From Austin: ~15.5 hrs.
